Baby, Baby, Baby, Oh!

Sorry for the Justin Bieber reference, I haven’t been overthrown by a group of tween girls.  BUT, I do have some exciting news…. If you follow me on Twitter or even on Facebook, you may have already seen that that wee little project I’ve been hinting at will be unveiled in October.

Yes, I’m expecting a new little arrival!  We are so thrilled as this has been a bit of a challenging process for us.  I won’t lie, it’s also very surreal.  Feeling slightly Sigourney Weaver-esque.

I’m in heavy duty planning mode right now so of course my thoughts have gone to the nursery.  We don’t know yet if it will be a girl or boy so I we have chosen a fairly gender neutral but unconventional design scheme.  Shocking I know…

The colour palette was inspired by the office designed by Windsor Smith for the House of Windsor project last year.  Remember this one?

Love the snakeskin, love the green, throw in a few brass accents and we’ll be engaged.  In love.

Let’s start with some of the design elements shall we?

The rug is existing in the space already, it is the Stockholm Rand rug from Ikea.  Both the wallpaper and the brass lamps have been ordered online (see sources below) and the curtains will be sewn once I find the right fabric.  The abstract art I will attempt to DIY and the modern mobiles are from the MOMA store – cause a baby’s got to have a little culture right?

So here’s what I’m thinking we’ll get to eventually provided I don’t change my mind! I think I’ll be spending a lot of time in here so I had best love it!

We also tied in a vintage look with the hardware. The egg shaped knobs and the pulls are both in antique brass from Restoration Hardware . Not too shiny, not too dull- a great mix.

  2. Congratulations, again, Amy!! I’m sure you are over the moon with excitement plus a slight edge of nervous for your first? I’m loving the scheme you’ve selected for the nursery – you’re going to have one very chic baby ;-)
